Advanced Settings

These settings are specific to a DroboCopy. For most DroboCopies, you shouldn't need to change any of these settings.

Item Description

Resolve Symbolic Links

When enabled, this setting causes DroboCopy to copy all the files and folders that a symbolic link points to rather than just copying the link. By default, this is disabled.

Include System Files

When enabled, this setting copies hidden system files that the Mac operating system places in folders. These files aren't necessary for backing up your files. By default, this is disabled.

Delete files in the To folder that are not present in the From folder

When enabled, this setting tells DroboCopy to delete any files in your To or backup folder that aren't found in your From or source folder. By default, this is disabled so that you can retrieve files in case they were accidentally deleted in your source (From) folder.

Exclusions

File and folders exclusions allow you to tell DroboCopy to skip over and not copy specific files and folders in the source (From) folder. You can add as many exclusions as you need to a DroboCopy.

Reporting

These settings are specific to a DroboCopy and allow you to keep more or less information about a DroboCopy when it runs. The settings also give you the option to have an e-mail sent to you every time the DroboCopy runs.

Item Description

Reporting Level

This setting allows you to decide how much or how little information is kept about the DroboCopy when it runs.

  • Level 1 - Provides the overall state of the DroboCopy
  • Level 2 - Includes all Level 1 information plus a file listing of all errors
  • Level 3 - Includes all Level 1 and 2 information plus lists the status of every file that is part of the DroboCopy
