Volume Management (DroboPro and DroboElite only)
You can create, delete, rename and password-protect your volumes on DroboPro and DroboElite using Drobo Dashboard. To access Volume Management, go to the Advanced Controls -> Tools tab of Drobo Dashboard and click Volume Management. The volumes can be of different sizes and even formatted with different
file systems. The maximum size and file system choices of each volume
are determined by your operating system and file system type. The example shown is for a DroboElite.

Create Volume
After you click ”Create Volume...,”
you will go through the following steps:
- Pick the file system for the new volume.
- Choose the size of your new volume. (The maximum size is determined by your operating
system and file system type.)
- Choose the name for your new volume.
- Next, you will be taken back to the Volume Management window where your new
volume(s) will be displayed in italics. If you want to create more new
volumes, simply repeat the above process. When
you are finished, click ”Submit Changes” to create the new
volume(s) on your DroboPro or DroboElite.

- You will see a confirmation window.
Click ”Yes, Apply Changes” to
create the new volume(s). Click ”Cancel”
to exit this window and return to the Volume Management window.
- If you clicked ”Yes, Apply Changes,” your DroboPro/DroboElite will create
the new volume(s) and then format the new volume.
The new volume(s) are now available on your DroboPro or DroboElite.
Delete Volume
If you want to delete a volume:
- Highlight the volume you want to remove and click ”Delete Volume.”
- The volume you chose to delete will show with a strikethrough in the Volume
Name, File System Format, Used Space and Maximum Capacity.

- At this stage, you can simply click ”Undelete” if you change your
mind. You can also delete another volume by highlighting the volume name and
clicking ”Delete.” When you are through,
click either ”Submit Changes” or ”Cancel.”
- If
you click ”Submit Changes,” you will be shown a confirmation
screen where you can complete the volume(s) deletion by clicking ”Yes,
Apply Changes.” (If you click ”Cancel” you will return
to the Volume Management window.)
- DroboPro or DroboElite will then delete
the volume(s).
Note: You can create and delete volumes at the same time before clicking Submit Changes. The example above illustrates the appearance when you create a volume (in italics) and delete a volume (strikethrough) before submitting changes. Both will be performed.
Setting a Username and Password (DroboElite only)
To password protect a volume, you can set a CHAP password for it in the Volume Management window. Note that this must be set for each volume, if desired. If you want to set a username and password to administer your DroboElite, see DroboElite Settings.
