These settings allow you to configure your Drobo FS to best suit your storage needs. You can access the Drobo FS Settings page by clicking on the Settings button in Advanced Controls -> Tools in Drobo Dashboard. The settings you can configure are divided into 5 tabs as shown below.

| Item | Description |
Dual Disk Redundancy |
Enabling this setting will protect your data against two simultaneous disk drive failures. When enabled, your data is protected by an additional layer of redundancy, but you will have less protected capacity for storage. By default, this option is disabled. You must have a minimum of three drives in your Drobo FS to utilize this capability. |
|
Disk Drive Spin Down |
This option allows you to set a designated amount of time of inactivity before your Drobo FS spins down your hard drives. Spinning down the drives helps save power and can prolong the life of your hard drives. However, it may take a few moments for the drives to become available after they have been spun down, which will cause a slight delay before you can access data on your Drobo FS. By default, this option is set to 15 minutes. |
|
Dim Lights |
This feature allows you to dim the lights on your Drobo FS. When the check box is unchecked (default), the lights are on full intensity. When the check box is checked, the lights change to low intensity. Note that when the hard drives spin down (see below) in your Drobo FS, the indicator lights automatically dim. They are, however, visually distinguishable from even the low brightness setting. |

Use this screen to rename your Drobo FS and to set a static IP address, if necessary. For advanced users, this screen also allows you to use jumbo frames. Click the box at the bottom of the screen (MTU) and set the desired size.
Note: The name of your Drobo FS must be no more than 14 characters and cannot contain any special characters or spaces.
This screen is used to assign a username and password for the administration of your Drobo FS, mount any volumes and enable any DroboApps, if desired. After you set a username and password, Drobo Dashboard will not ask you to login in again unless you previously clicked the Logout button on the main page of Drobo Dashboard.
The Shares screen allows you to manage your shares. Each share will show up as a unique drive letter in Windows or a volume in Mac OS X. You can create a maximum of 32 shares on your Drobo FS.

Your Drobo device can send you e-mail alerts, based on a selected alert level. Use this screen to input the required information. For details on the fields you will need to fill out, please see E-mail Alerts. (Note that the screen on your Drobo FS might be slightly different from the one you see in the linked topic.) After you configure email alerts, your Drobo FS will send alerts on its own, whether or not Drobo Dashboard is running and even if your computer is turned off.
