Drobo S Settings

These settings allow you to configure your Drobo S to best suit your storage needs. You can access the Drobo S Settings page by clicking on the Settings button in Advanced Controls -> Tools in Drobo Dashboard. The settings you can configure are shown below.

Item Description

Dual Disk Redundancy

Enabling this setting will protect your data against two simultaneous disk drive failures. When enabled, your data is protected by an additional layer of redundancy, but you will have less protected capacity for storage. By default, this option is disabled. You must have a minimum of three drives in Drobo S to utilize this capability.

Disk Drive Spin Down

This option allows you to set a designated amount of time of inactivity before your Drobo S spins down your hard drives. Spinning down the drives helps save power and can prolong the life of your hard drives. However, it may take a few moments for the drives to become available after they have been spun down, which will cause a slight delay before you can access data on your Drobo S. By default, this option is set to 15 minutes.

Dim Lights

This feature allows you to dim the lights on your Drobo S. When the check box is unchecked (default), the lights are on full intensity. When the check box is checked, the lights change to low intensity. Note that when the hard drives spin down (see below) in your Drobo S, the indicator lights automatically dim. They are, however, visually distinguishable from even the low brightness setting.
